Composting: five parameters that make the difference

1. Incoming materials

Good sorting avoids contaminants and enables an appropriate blend.

2. Blend balance

Carbon-rich structural materials and nitrogen-rich materials complement each other to support biological activity.

3. Moisture

Too little water slows the process; too much removes air and favors undesirable conditions.

4. Oxygen and turning

Aeration supports aerobic decomposition and limits compacted zones.

5. Temperature and maturity

Temperature monitoring helps read biological activity. Maturity is checked before screening, storage and use.
